MEET MIA
Hi there, my name is Mia Edgar – I’m a Medical Doctor and currently service in the U.S. Navy as an Undersea Medical Officer.
My job is summed up as someone who is both a physician AND a diver. As a Navy Medical Officer, I take care of submariners, divers and special operators.
I started lifting weights and getting into fitness during Medical School. This passion turned into becoming an avid CrossFit® Team Competitor. I’ve been to Regionals twice and have qualified as an Elite Team Competitor for Wodopalooza! I also have a passion for translating a lot of the sports medicine and nutrition research into useful, daily tips that can help anyone lose weight, build muscle and live an active, healthier lifestyle.
I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Boston College and graduated from the military medical school in 2015. During my medical rotations, I started to realize how so many disease processes boil down to prevention through diet and exercise. I hope this ‘Journal Club’ helps bust a lot of the fitness and diet fads that may be detrimental to your health in the long run.
Check in every month for a new review of a topic related to protein, supplementation and nutrition! If you have any comments, questions or even suggestions on topics you’d like me to research and write about, send me an email at Mia@JohnsKillerProtein.
Hope you enjoy my Journal Club!
